My first time going to Dave's Auto Repair was as pleasant as such a visit can be when you are going in with a Check Engine light on and feeling completely at the mercy of the shop to give you an honest assessment and a fair price. Lisa, one of the owners, took my information and my key, and explained the range of things that could generate the diagnostic code the test produced. She called later in the day to report what they found and what it would cost to fix it. She also explained that one of the needed parts would have to be ordered so they would have to wait a day before they could work on it. I had also asked for a full regular maintenance inspection and they found my water pump was "seeping" -- not critical yet but something worth noting. She did not try to pressure me in any way. Everything about the place, including Lisa's professional manner, put me in a trusting mood, so I asked her to go ahead and keep the truck to replace the water pump and then the emissions leak the next day. Got the call that the truck was ready middle of the next day. Got a detailed list of the work done, clearly showing the costs of parts and labor. While I do not have comparison data on costs, everything seemed reasonable and well done. I will of course update my review if necessary later, but based on this first experience, I plan to return to Dave's Auto Repair for future work on my truck, and my car as well!
